Building Envelopes and Structures

Correcting defects of construction plays a significant role in increasing building efficiency and structural integrity. Based on the mechanism that surface temperature variations of the building envelope indicate problems in structure, thermal bridging, moisture content and air leakage, infrared thermography makes the above mentioned task easy enough by identifying heating and cooling loss due to poor construction, missing or inadequate insulation and moisture intrusion.

Inspection of conductive losses
Evaluate moisture contamination in buildings, condos, plants facilities
Inspect concrete water heated floors for leakage and temperature distribution
Detect delaminations in concrete bridge deck

Location of missing or damaged insulation
Evaluate thermal performance of retrofit for heating system and etc
Identify air leakage & energy loss
Locate radiant heating wires or pipes.
Inspect concrete integrity
Inspect power generation generators

Others

  Electrical Systems

It is abnormal heating associated with high resistance or excessive current flow that causes many problems in electrical systems. Infrared thermography enables us to see these invisible thermal signatures of impending damage before the circuit becomes hot enough to cause an outage or explosion.

Inspection of power generation generators
Substation electrical inspection
Transformers and capacitor evaluation
Electrical motor inspection
Inspection of over- head urban and rural electrical distribution
Discovery of contact problems
Detection of overloaded circuit problems
Inspection of load requirement
Others

  Mechanical Systems

IR thermography is very helpful to inspect diverse mechanical equipment as it shows clearly heat related failure mechanisms with thermal images during startup and cool down as well as during normal operation. Using easily deployable infrared cameras to prevent electrical and mechanical failures by carrying out traditional predictive maintenance with such equipment can minimize costs and enhance productivity by averting failures.

Inspect burners for flame impingement and burner management
Observe combustion patterns of fuel
Inspect boilers
Detect thermal patterns on boiler tubes and measure tube skin temperature during
Monitor normal operation or when boiler is on standby
Scan and record temperatures in areas of boiler not monitored
Scan the exterior of boiler for refectory damage or locate warmer areas where potential refectory damage may occur
Detect coke buildup in crude furnaces
Detect leak of flue gas of power plant boiler
Detect mechanical bearing Evaluate heat ventilation/ air conditioning equipment
Prevent cooling loss of cold storage
Detect insulation leaks in refrigeration equipment
Others

Roofing Systems

The physics used for thermal roof inspections is that dry roof insulation heats up and cools down faster than wet roof insulation. Infrared inspection goes beyond simply finding a leak by locating the extent of the moisture invasion of the insulation. Instead, we use infrared cameras to test and capture images of temperature difference between the daytime and night.

Detect flat roof leakage for buildings, plants, facilities
Identify water damaged portions of a roof
Eliminate unnecessary replacement of good roofing
Others

  Moisture

Moisture accumulation due to condensation or leaks is a common candidate for mold growth. Yet there is no practical way to eliminate mold spores in an indoor environment. The best way to control mold growth is to control moisture. Infrared inspection is a fast, non-invasive method to discover moisture intrusion within the building envelope. Infrared inspection does not directly detect the presence of mold but find moisture where mold may develop.
